Kerstin Brätsch and KAYA at Fondazione Memmo
4 May-11 Nov. Fondazione Memmo presents _Ruine, the first solo show in Rome of German artist Kerstin Brätsch, and _KOVO, the exhibition of the collective KAYA (Kerstin Brätsch and Debo Eilers), curated by Francesco Stocchi.
Under the title _Ruine (German for "ruin"), Brätsch’s exhibition continues her longstanding interest in destabilising and expanding the language of painting.
A new group of marbling paintings [Psychopompo] from the ongoing series Unstable Talismanic Rendering, made with German master marbler Dirk Lange, will be shown alongside new stuccomarmo works, created in collaboration with the Roman artisan Walter Cipriani.
As part of the residency offered by Fondazione Memmo, KAYA will spend a month working on site to create a place-specific intervention. Entitled _KOVO the installation is described as a "violent collision between painting and sculpture" and comprises a series of KAYA lamps and KAYA skins.
The exhibition inauguration is at 18.00 on Thursday 3 May, for details see Fondazione Memmo website.
