23 Jan-4 Feb 2004. Conducted by Steven Mercurio, directed by Giancarlo Del Monaco, with Paoletta Marrocu, Lucio Gallo, Ian Storey. First performed in New York in 1910, this opera uses a libretto by Carlo Zangarini and Guelfo Civinini, based on David Belascos play. It is one of Puccinis most modernistic scores and is strongly influenced by Debussy.
