The Teatro di Jesi in the Marche is as usual staging a rarely-performed opera by one of the regions early 19th-century composers. This year the choice is La Marescialla dAncre by Alessandro Nini at Teatro Pergolesi. Nini wrote many sacred works as well as arias and eight lyric operas, of which the most famous is La Marescialla dAncre, a dramatic story of love, betrayal, armed conflict and obscure prisons. The protagonist will be Chiara Taigi, a soprano of some renown thanks to her television appearances. The director, Michele Mirabella, is known for the television medical programme Elisir.
