This exhibition is dedicated to a group of Italian photographers who worked in Persia in the years between 1848 and 1864, during the reign of Naseroddin Shah of the Qajar dynasty. This was a very interesting and significant moment in Persian history as Naseroddin Shah was the first Persian king to travel to Europe. During his three trips he became interested in photography and brought back the equipment needed to develop his passion. He also tried to implement the European models of the postal system, railways and press and he attempted to write a new civil code.
