The main cultural policies and propaganda implemented by Emperor Augustus across the Roman empire are explored, as well as the lasting legacy of his rule over subsequent centuries.
The exhibition illustrates how emperors such as Charlemagne, Frederick II, Charles V and Napoleon reinterpreted the "art of command" used by Augustus.
Divided into 12 sections according to theme and historical period, the show comprises engravings, paintings, coins, mosaics, etchings, sculptures and gems relating to the emperor and his style of leadership.
