LEM Festival Experimental Music
9-16 Oct 2004. LEM stands for something different with every edition of this experimental music festival. This year, for the eighth edition, the letters stand for Literalities, Effervescences and Magnetisms. Electronic music, improvisation, soundtracks, unique instruments and interaction between different art forms will be on offer mostly in various venues of the Grcia neighbourhood. The event started as the result of an urban intervention project, focusing on art as a medium for societal change, and Barcelonas Grcia district is at the core of the project. This year sees 160 artists from 12 countries taking part and over 60 concerts and happenings taking place. Guests include: the classically trained singer Mariona Sagarra of Barcelona who now experiments with contemporary styles, People Like Us of London who pride themselves on musical thievery and reinvention, Luigi Archetti of Zrich who pushes the limits of guitar reverberation, and Fernando Lagreca who leans towards the latest electronic music tendencies such as clicks & cuts, microhouse and techno, and many more not so well-known but worth discovering musicians.
