Leonard Freed in Rome
The work of noted New York photographer Leonard Freed (1929-2006) is on show at an exhibition titled "Kate – Nudi 2001-2004" at ACTA International on Via Panisperna.
The exhibition comprises 20 black and white nude images of Kate, a yoga teacher, whom Freed photographed from 2001 to 2004 in what was to be one of his final projects. Kate described the process as "liberating" and this can be seen in the free nature of the photographs.
Freed became famous for his images of great political events, such as the civil rights marches of Martin Luther King (1964-1965) and the Yom Kippur war in 1973.
His work was last exhibited in Rome in 2011 at the Museo in Trastevere.
Mon-Fri 16.00-20.00. Sat by appointment.
