Lo Stato della Follia (The State of Insanity) will be screened with English subtitles at the Nuovo Cinema Aquila on 16 April at 20.45.
The award-winning documentary follows the first-person account of an actor and ex-inmate in one of the so-called criminal asylums featured in the hard-hitting film.
The disturbing, degrading conditions faced by some of the estimated 1,500 inmates are featured in the documentary whose release triggered a state enquiry and a law requiring the closure of the six state-run institutions.
