Luce: L'immaginario Italiano
More than 500 photographs, 130 films and documentaries from the archives of the Istituto Luce on the occasion of its 90th anniversary.
The institution was established in 1924 to educate a largely poor, rural Italy, divided by distance and dialect, and only unified 60 years before.
Many of the poorer citizens say their first glimpse of foreign lands, or even Rome and Venice, thanks to the Luce newsreels.
The exhibition includes footage of personalities as diverse as Mussolini, the Beatles, and Sofia Loren, and offers an overview of the development of Italy over the decades.
