19 July-13 Aug 2003. The biggest names in opera come to the mediaeval town of Macerata in the Marche region year after year to perform in one of the most unusual and challenging settings in the world: the oval, colonnaded Arena Sferisterio. This year the programme features La Traviata (19 July-12 Aug), Lucia di Lammermoor (26 July-10 Aug), Cavalleria Rusticana and I Pagliacci (2-13 Aug).
