Machiavelli at the American University of Rome

The American University of Rome presents an irreverent, one-act adaptation of Machiavelli’s classic Renaissance satire “The Mandrake” on 26 and 27 November at 21.00.

Directed by Douglas Dean, the production will be performed entirely by AUR students, and coincides with the 500th anniversary of Machiavelli's masterpiece "The Prince."

Set in Florence, this fast-moving comedy follows Callimaco as he conspires to seduce Lucrezia, the beautiful wife of an elderly and gullible lawyer.

The play is being held at the Istituto Italiano di Studi Germanici, Via delle Mura Gianicolensi 11 (within Villa Sciarra).

Entry is free but tickets must be submitted at the door. Tickets can be downloaded via Eventbrite.
