Marc Chagall: Love and Life

The Chiostro del Bramante presents a major exhibition dedicated to the Russian early modernist Marc Chagall (1887-1985), featuring more than 150 works from the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

The paintings, drawings and prints on display reflect the great love between the artist and his wife Bella Rosenfeld, who was a fundamental and constant source of inspiration to Chagall.

The exhibition also examines the artist's Jewish faith and the important role it played in his career, which incorporated painting, stained glass, stage sets, ceramics, tapestries and fine art prints.

Curated by Ronit Sorek, the show comprises images from Chagall's youth in his native Vitebsk in Belarus, to the illustrations for his autobiography in later life.
