March For Our Lives in Rome
24 March. The March For Our Lives demonstration, scheduled in Washington on 24 March, will see students and their families demand that the safety of students becomes a priority as well as calling for an end to gun violence and mass shootings in US schools.
A parallel standing rally in Rome, organised by the Rome chapter of American Expats for Positive Change (AEPC), will meet outside the city's US embassy at 11.00 on Saturday 24 March.
According to its mission statement: "The March For Our Lives movement is created by, inspired by, and led by students across the USA who will no longer risk their lives waiting for someone else to take action to stop the epidemic of mass school shootings that have become all too familiar."
Organisers of the Rome event stress that this is not just an "American" issue, although the majority of this type of violence is occurring in schools throughout the US. Instead they say it is about students of all ages advocating for themselves and each other and taking action, having a voice and being heard.
RSVP via March for Our Lives website. For more details of the Rome standing rally, which will take place at the corner of Via Veneto and Via Leonida Bissolati (Metro Barberini), see Facebook page March for Our Lives Rome.
