Mary Beard at American Academy in Rome
25 Sept. The American Academy in Rome presents The Classical Body: The Naked and the Nude, a lecture by Mary Beard, Britain’s most celebrated classicist, on Tuesday 25 September at 18.00. Beard, who in addition to being a renowned scholar of antiquity is a writer and blogger on women in contemporary society, will explore the "idea of the human body in classical sculpture: female and male, normative and conservative, subversive and transgressive."
