Mary Poppins
6 Dec 2004- 24 Aug 2005. Mary Poppins comes to the stage at the Prince Edward Theatre. Based on the 1964 classic film and stories by P L Travers, the show is a joint production between Disney and Sir Cameron MacKintosh, and promises plenty of memorable songs. Mary Poppins is the archetypal "perfect nanny" who comes to look after two children, Jane and Michael, after seeing their advertisement in The Times. She turns their world upside-down, literally, and before long they are having tea on the ceiling. The show contains memorable songs such as A Spoonful of Sugar, Chim Chim Cher-ee and, of course, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. The premier show starts the weekend of 6-7 December, is followed by Christmas showings on 24 and 25, launching a season running until 24 August. Mon to Sat at 19:30, Matinees on Thu and Sat 14:30.
