For lovers of rarely-performed operas there is Il matrimonio al convento by Prokofiev at the Teatro Regio in Turin (17-28 March 2004). This production comes from the St Petersburgs Marinski theatre and will be conducted by Gianandrea Noseda. This is also an opera buffa, which tells the guises and passions of love, the classical themes of the 18th-century theatre to which the comedy of Sheridan, which inspired Prokofievs unusual work, belongs.
