Omaggio a Marcello Avenali 1912-1981
Rome's municipal modern art gallery celebrates the Roman artist Marcello Avenali with some 20 art works including three paintings donated last year from the artist's foundation. The exhibition charts a key point in Avenali's career from the mid 20th-century, a time when he, along with many of his peers, moved away from figurative styles such as the Scuola Romana in favour of post-cubism and abstraction. The exhibition also includes archival material such as letters and sketches by Avenali, helping to paint a picture of the artist as well as an exciting era in Italian art.
