English language cinema in Rome

The Nuovo Cinema Aquila Rome presents a special screening of On The Bride's Side, the English-subtitled version of Io sto con la sposa, on 17 December at 21.30, in the presence of its director Gabriele Del Grande.

The film documents the true story of the fake wedding convoy staged by Palestinian and Syrian refugees which fooled European immigration authorities, from Milan to Sweden.

A Palestinian poet and an Italian journalist meet five Palestinians and Syrians in Milan who entered Europe via the Italian island of Lampedusa after fleeing the war in Syria. They decide to help them complete their journey to Sweden – and hopefully avoid getting themselves arrested as traffickers – by faking a wedding.

After the film, the director will host a questions and answers session.
