Passaggi nella città prigioniera
Exhibition dedicated to the memory of Nazi-occupied Rome from September 1943 to June 1944. This period in the capital is marked by bombings, the Fosse Ardeatine massacre, torture at the Nazi prison on Via Tasso, and the deportation of Jews from the city's Ghetto area.
The exhibition at the Sala Santa Rita explores that dark period in the city's history and includes two videos by Rome artist Jacopo Benci. Passaggi – Durchgänge (2011) and Nella città prigioniera (2014) are dedicated respectively to the Nazi detention centre on Via Tasso (now the Museum of Liberation) and an account of what happened in Rome during that era through the testimony of a witness to the events, Citto Maselli.
There are also two events being held as part of the exhibition: Canti dalle musiche di Terezin and readings by Evelina Meghnagi on 25 Jan at 18.30; and Memorie, Roma: luoghi, corpi, storie, aconversation with Jacopo Benci, Martina Donati and Antonio Parisella on 11 Feb at 18.30.
