The American singer-songwriter Patti Smith returns to Rome in April.
The Patti Smith "My Festival" is billed as the most important special music project on the 2013 Fondazione Musica per Roma calendar: the festival's new format will see Smith oversee firsthand the direction of several days of programming.
Among the scheduled interdisciplinary events involving Smith is an evening in tribute to her friend, the Beat poet Allen Ginsberg, with Philip Glass and the participation of Lenny Kaye and Jesse Smith, on 13 April. Also, on 14 April the influential American singer is joined by her band in dedicating a concert to her 1975 masterpiece album "Horses".
Smith set new standards for the New York City punk rock movement in the 1970s, becoming referred to as the "Godmother of Punk".
