14 Nov. The Swedish embassy in Rome is holding a festival to mark the 70th anniversary of Pippi Longstocking, the fictitious nine-year-old girl from the popular children's books by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren.
Known in Italian as Pippi Calzelunghe, the character's stories have been translated into 70 languages and sold more than 150 million copies.
Rome celebrates Pippi's anniversary with children's workshops, Swedish food and songs at the Casina di Raffaello in Villa Borghese on Saturday 14 November at 15.00. Entry is free but participants must book in advance, tel. 060608.
