Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia. Until 26 March. This is a rare opportunity to hear Maurizio Pollini, one of the greatest pianists in the world. He not only plays in all the concerts but has thought up the exciting programme, which includes 16th-century madrigals and music by Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Debussy, Schnberg, Xenakis, Sciarrino, Berio and Nono. Booking is essential. Concerts start at 20.30.

12 March Concert by the Arnold Schnberg Choir and the percussionists of the Orchestra di S. Cecilia, with Pollini piano and Petra Hoffmann soprano. Music by Marenzio, Nono, Gesualdo.
15 March Concert by the Arnold Schnberg Choir and the strings of the Orchestra di S. Cecilia, with Pollini piano, Rachel Harnisch soprano, Herbert Lippert tenor, Morten Ernst Lassen baritone. Music by Schubert, Ligeti, Xenakis, Schnberg.
18 March Concert by the Arnold Schnberg Choir and the Gruppo Strumentale dell’Accademia di S. Cecilia, with Pollini piano, Alda Caiello soprano and Marco Lazzara tenor. Music by Brahms, Manzoni, Schumann.
21 March Concert by the Ensemble Wien-Berlin and the Salvatore Accardo Quartet with Pollini piano. Music by Ligeti, Kurtag, Mozart, Sciarrino.
