17 May-21 June 2003. This intense festival is one of the most interesting dance rendezvous of the year. It started two years ago with a tribute to choreographer Jiri Kylian. Last year the festival was dedicated to the Swedish choreographer Mats Ek but also included a section dedicated to new Italian dance. This year it opens with a parade through the city centre with dancers and installations on 17 May; this will be followed on 18 May with the "King Midas day", a day of creative recycling and urban dance performances. Stage performances begin on 23 May with the stunning Frankfurt Ballet in work by Frederic Forsythe. The programme continues with the Compagnia Rui Horta-Centro Coreografico Montemor-o-Novo in Pixel on 13-14 June; Artemis Danza in Kiss Time, choreography by Monica Casadei, on 17 June; and Alias Compagnie in a new work on 18 June.
