Richard Patterson | Ged Quinn
25 May-14 July. Galleria Mucciaccia presents an exhibition of works by two well-known British artists, Richard Patterson and Ged Quinn, showing for the first time together in Rome. Both artists were born in the UK in 1963, establishing themselves in the late 1980s, and both employ a multitude of forms, idioms and genres. Patterson's complex multi-layer paintings contain strong cultural allusions to pop, movies, magazines, music and advertising, while Quinn's pastoral landscapes and still lifes are transformed from the familiar to the fantastic. Curated by Catherine Loewe, the exhibition is described as a dialogue between "figuration and abstraction, past and present, reality and fiction, sacred and profane." For details see gallery website.
