18 June-29 July. In its 19th year, Rome’s World Music festival held annually on the shores of the little lake in the gardens of Villa Ada is one of the city’s longest-running initiatives. It features a programme with interesting multi-ethnic names and international music, and over the years it has kept its promise of giving voice to popular music and urban modernity. The festival area opens at 20.00 so that the public can enjoy food and drink from one of the many multiethnic food stalls before the concerts begin at 22.00. Names to look our for this year include Incognito (1 July), Emir Kusturica and The No Smoking Band (3 July), Stephen Marley (12 July), Madredeus (19 July), Joan As Police Woman (22 July), Tricky (24 July).
