Romance de lobos (Romance of the Wolves) by Valle Incln is the third of the so-called Comedias Brbaras (Barbarian Comedies), and resumes the three central threads of the previous plays: the transformation of Don Juan Manuel Montenegro, the excess of madness and violence, and redemption through the extinguishing of pride. The sonic and visual images used by Valle Incln to harness the feeling of solitude, the distresses it causes and death, all flood throughout the work. The wind, rain, night, light, and the sea are incorporated into the production and surround the spectator in an atmosphere whose sacredness projects onto the essential question of the human destiny.
