Led by conductor Cristian Mandeal, the Romanian Youth Orchestra assembles a selection of some of the most talented young musicians from Romania. Founded in 2008 following an initiative by cellist Marin Cazacu with the help of “The Friends of Music” foundation, it is the youngest symphonic orchestra in Romania. From the start Mandeal assured the technical and artistic direction of the orchestra, and now tours regularly with the ensemble performing a wide-ranging repertoire. In Rome the orchestra is accompanied by pianist Oxana Corjos in a programme dedicated to Enescu, R. Strauss and Mussorgsky/Ravel (21.00).
