Romeo & Juliet.
22 March-16 July 2005. Based on, arguably, the most famous love story in the world, Viennas Raimund Theater is showcasing a musical of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet produced by Frenchman and long-time Patrick Bruel collaborator, Gerard Presgurvic. The musical version is a fantastic and colourful rendition of Shakespeares tale of the romance that breaks out between two warring Veronese families, the Montagues and Capulets, and the tragic consequences for the lovers and their kin. The musical keeps to the original story only shortening it slightly. The show was an instant success on its French release in France in 2001, the English language version making a similar splash in Londons West End in 2002. It has since roused audiences from their seats in Moscow and Budapest, drawing over one million people to the box office. Tickets cost between 31 and 117.
