Rome residents can learn all about the theory and practice of rose gardening during two special appointments in February, organised by the city's Roseto Comunale rose garden in collaboration with the Parco Regionale dell'Appia Antica and Zappata Romana.
Both lessons are given by the city's rose garden experts and entry is free.
The first appointment focuses on the classification, maintenance and pruning of modern roses and takes place at the Roseto Comunale on the Aventine hill, on Saturday 21 February between 10.00 and 13.00.
The second lesson is practical and focuses on ancient and botanical roses, and is held on Saturday 28 February from 10.00-13.00 at Hortus Urbis on Via Appia Antica 42/50.
Reservations for both lessons are necessary. In the case of rain the events will not take place.
