Rossini fanatics and philologists converge on Pesaro every year for this special festival promoted by a foundation that aims to bring to light the wealth of material the composer produced but never had performed, and to bring back to its original shape all the popular Rossini music that has changed throughout the years (due to fashion or to the popular interpretation of this or that conductor, tenor, soprano and so on). This years operas are Bianca e Falliero, La Gazzetta, Il Barbiere di Siviglia. There are also symphonic and chamber music sections as well as a cycle of conferences on Rossinis music and his times.
