Sally Mann: Remembered Light: Cy Twombly in Lexington
22 June–8 Sept. American photographer Sally Mann documents the Virginia studio of her friend and mentor, Cy Twombly, the Rome-based American artist who died in 2011.
Mann’s poetic images, in both colour and black-and-white, were taken between 1999 and 2012.
The photographs record the objects accumulated in Twombly’s studio, offering a glimpse into his imagination and artistic life.
Mann is known for her intimate and disquieting images featuring family, landscapes and the nature of mortality.
This exhibition comes to Twombly's adopted home following presentations at Gagosian New York and Paris.
