Scientific Workshops at Explora

15 September-13 October 2012. On Saturdays Explora organizes a cycle of encounters and workshops with university researchers, entitled Science for All, to encourage adults and children (aged six and older) to discover the world of science and counteract the growing disaffection of young people towards scientific skills and disciplines.

On 15 and 22 September researchers will focus on The Molecule of Life: the DNA. Participants will extract the DNA of humans, animals and plants at the discovery of its secrets.

On 29 September the subject is The World of Bacteria. How many bacteria inhabit our fingers? How do they behave? Participants will use a bacterial culture to discover what bacteria look like.

On 6 and 13 October there is a workshop on The Work of the Paleontologist. Participants, guided by the paleontologist Luca Bellucci, will discover the techniques as well as the importance of paleontology in the field of excavation.

This initiative is part of a wider national project, entitled IF-Instructions for the Future: the Informal Education as a Tool for the Diffusion of Scientific Culture, co-financed by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR), which involves nine science museums and science centres around Italy.

Sat 10.00-12.00.
