7-15 July 2006. This is a world-class music festival organised by the exclusive Accademia Musicale Chigiana in some of Sienas most beautiful venues. After the inauguration concert conducted by Myung-Whun Chung, the programme this year opens to a daring production of I Cenci by Giorgio Battistelli with Antonin Artauds musical theatre. Then Yuri Temirkanov conducts the Philharmonic Orchestra of St Petersburg, pianist Paul Lewis plays Beethoven, and the Orchestra Barocca di Venezia is conducted by Andrea Marcon in Vivaldis LAtenaide. The festival couldnt but close with a tribute to Mozart with three different concerts starring violinist and conductors Giuliano Carmignola and Salvatore Accardo, and the Orchestra della Toscana conducted by Gianluigi Gelmetti.
