Shifting Boundaries by Kristien De Neve
16-30 Nov. Kristien De Neve presents her work at Ecos Gallery, a new space in Rome dedicated to contemporary art, located on Via Giulia.
The artist displays some of her findings made in the last three years of research while working mainly with beeswax: triptychs poised between the representational and the material, objects covered with wax and encased in a symbolic physicality, mirrors that chase the vain hope of catching an image of reality, and finally Magritte-like blocks of condensed sky.
There is a flow uniting the mirrored knives wrapped in orthopaedic clay and the objects covered in wax, a second skin, flesh of objects selected to be enclosed by Kristien's artistic language, animated by the indefinable colour of the incarnate. Kristien’s works are dangerous and diligent, hard and fragile, flexible and precious creations involving both body and object.
The exhibition opens on 16 November at 18.00.
Tues-Thurs 11.00-19.00. Fri-Sat 11.00-10.00. Sun 11.00-13.00
