7-18 Sept. Now in its 11th year, this daring initiative was established from a collaboration between arts festivals, embassies and cultural institutes, with the support of regional authorities.
Under the title Keep the village alive, the 2016 programme features cutting-edge theatre, dance, music, performance, debates and workshops.
It opens with LUS, starring Ermanna Montanari and Luigi Ceccarelli (7 Sept) for the Giardino Ritrovato festival in the newly-opened gardens of Palazzo Venezia.
Other highlights include English-language productions Edges by Croatian choreographer Ivana Müller (Teatro India, 10 Sept) and In Heart by Portuguese playwright and actor Tiago Rodrigues (La Pelanda, 16 Sept).
The festival takes place at several venues this year including La Pelanda (MACRO Testaccio), Biblioteca Vallicelliana, Teatro India, Villa Medici and Palazzo Venezia.
