The seventh edition of the capital's Spanish Film Festival takes place at the Cinema Farnese Persol in Campo de' Fiori from 8-13 May.
The week-long event features a mixture of classic and contemporary Spanish-language cinema, all screened with Italian subtitles. Opening the festival Vivir es Facil con los Ojos Cerrados (Living is Easy with Your Eyes Closed) by David Trueba, recent winner of five Goya awards, the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars. The director will be present at the screening at 21.00 on 8 May.
Among the other figures from Spainish cinema appearing at the festival are director Jonas Trueba, Italo-Spanish actor Francesco Carril, and director Mar Coll.
The Nueva Ola (New Wave) section of the festival showcases both mainstream and independent Spanish movies, while this year a new section entitled Maestros à la Carte is dedicated to cult film and food.
