30 June-9 July 2006. In Sleeping Beauty Notebook, choreography by Donald Byrd. Based in Washington, the company was founded in 1982 by a group of dancers who wanted to create something new by merging contemporary modern dance with jazz and tap dancing. Since naming Donald Byrd director in 2002, the company has attracted dancers from all over the world. Sleeping Beauty Notebook is an irreverent visitation of The Sleeping Beauty in which the lovely, if somewhat naive girl, is given the chance to stop and reflect on her condition.
