7 Feb. American football game starts after midnight in Rome.
A handful of Rome bars are screening the much anticipated Super Bowl game between Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos, which starts just after midnight on the night of 7 February and runs into the wee hours of 8 February.
The most popular places to watch it in Rome are Scholars Lounge, for its atmosphere and large television screens, and also the Abbey Theatre nearby, another large venue with a strong American fanbase.
Other centrally located bars showing the game include the Hard Rock Cafe on Via Veneto and the Scottish pub The Highlander, off Via del Corso.
The game kicks off at 00.30 and bars are advising customers to arrive by 22.00 due to the large crowds expected.
Also worth noting is that with the exception of the venues listed above, and possibly a couple of others, most bars claiming to show the game will only be able to screen the first half before having to close for the night.
