31 July 2006. This is a gift from the city of Rome to all of its people: every year a free concert by an international star with the Colosseum as a backdrop. After Paul McCartney, Simon & Garfunkel and Elton John, this year it is Billy Joels turn. Many camp out from the night before the concert in order to get close to the stage as the enormous crowd inevitably ends up filling the Via dei Fori Imperiali all the way to Piazza Venezia.
