24-27 Sept. The summer drama season at Rome’s Silvano Toti Globe Theatre features a major novelty this year: an English-language production of The Comedy of Errors, performed by the Bedouin Shakespeare Company.
Directed by Chris Pickles, the production will be the Globe’s first show in English, and the first in Italy for the prestigious London-based company.
One of Shakespeare’s early plays, it is also his shortest and one of his most farcical comedies, with a major part of the humour coming from slapstick and mistaken identity, in addition to puns and word play.
After premiering in Rome the Bedouin production will begin a tour in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and London. The cast includes Edward Andrews, Eleanor Russo, Gemma Wilson, Jonathan Kemp, Jonathon Reid, Michael Lapham, Natalie Lester and Thomas Gilbey.
Tickets are priced from €11.50 to €30, for further information see Ticket One website and the Globe Theatre. For group bookings email gruppi@globeroma.com.
In the meantime an Italian production of Othello runs until 20 September.
