28, 29 May 2005. In a new creation, choreography by William Forsythe. After the long, painful death of his old company and the birth of his new one, the fantastic choreographer William Forsythe is back with an exciting group of dancers. Their debut took place in the United States in April with the premiere of a work called Three Atmospheric Studies, which met with public and critical acclaim. Forsythe comes from Long Island but has been based in Germany for 32 years. For nearly 20 of those years he led the Frankfurt Ballet. But in the crisis that engulfed cultural subsidies in Germany, Forsythe was forced to watch his company dismantled. Now Frankfurt, some German states, as well as various corporate and private sponsors, are backing the new Forsythe Company for at least five years. It is half the size of his old company, with only 18 dancers, although Forsythe says he may hire guests to help perform his larger works. All but one of the new companys dancers come from the Frankfurt Ballet.
