Cycle Rome is offering a tour of the capital under the title The Insurgent City: Revolutions, mob riots, secret conspiracies in Rome 1849-1871, on Sunday 2 March from 10.00-13.00.

The insurgent city bike tour takes you into an unofficial, half-hidden and often undocumented world, a city rarely glimpsed: of pamphleteers, agitators, exiles, demonstrations, riots and secret conspiracies; the city of radical republican Mazzini, Garibaldi and his multiethnic red shirts, his dangerous classes; and the countless hostarias, theatres, coffee-houses and meeting-places in which radical ideas have been nurtured and revolutions planned.
