This is the Amedeo Amodio choreography of The Nutcracker with orchestra and chorus of the Teatro dell' Opera and the participation of pupils of the opera's ballet school.

Amodio, who started his career as a dancer La Scala, found Aterballetto in 1979. One of the works produced by the company in the early years was The Nutcracker which was first performed in Reggio Emilia in 1985 and the same year at the Politeama in Palermo. It was then not staged again until after Amodio became the artistic director at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo in 2005. His is a surreal version seen through the eyes of Clara and manipulated by Drosselmeier that slides constantly between dream and reality.
