9-14 June. The Rome Savoyards and Plays in Rome present The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard, directed by Sandra Provost.
This comic one-act play written in the early 1960s is laced with satire and draws on Stoppard's own experiences as a theatre critic.
It is a direct parody of the whodunit style used in The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie, exploring the themes of the "play within a play", while also sending up the egotistical critics and their pompous reviews.
In English. For tickets tel. 347/8248661 or email playsinrome@yahoo.com. Tues-Fri 9-12 June 20.30. Sat-Sun 13-14 June 17.30.
