The September Concert: Brahms' German Requiem
11 September 2010. On the occasion of the ninth anniversary of the Twin Towers attack, the choir of the Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia and the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana perform the German Requiem by Johannes Brahms. The choir, directed by Lorin Maazel, features soprano Jeanine De Bique and baritone Paul LaRosa. The peace-promoting, free event is organised by the Compagnia per la Musica in Roma, a non-profit association founded in Rome in 2005 to support the performance of musical events of cultural and social importance. The German Requiem, Brahms' longest composition, was composed between 1865 and 1868 and comprises seven movements.
