The Shoah Memorial - a Tool for the Present.

Opens 27 Jan 2005. Frances new Shoah Memorial opened its doors for the first time on 27 January 2005 on the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. This new institute provides a link between those who lived through the Shoah and subsequent generations. The memorial contains the largest European documentation centre concerning the Shoah that includes an extensive collection of archived testimonies, photographs, reports, letters and other documents which can be used by researchers. Conceived as a permanent exhibition the memorial informs visitors about the terrible events in order to avoid repeating them in the future. Visiting temporary exhibitions covering specific aspects of the Holocaust are also planned. The institutes new premises boast all the latest facilities for visitors of any age or with any kind of disability.
