Tosca Amore Disperato by Puccini.
Arrangement by Lucio Dalla. 23 Oct-7 Dec. 2003. Directed by Lorenzo Mariani, choreography by Daniel Ezralow, costumes by Giorgio Armani, with Rosalia Misseri, Graziano Galatone and Vittorio Matteucci. A new version of Giacomo Puccinis Tosca goes on stage as Tosca Amore Disperato, an arrangement by the contemporary singer and songwriter Lucio Dalla. According to Dalla the score is a mixture of genres and styles, ranging from musical to opera. "We want to offer a third-millennium audience a modern version of a timeless melodrama," says Dalla. The setting will be that of Puccinis Tosca, but the operas finale will be quite unexpected. This show will draw on Giorgio Armanis talents for costumes, while the choreography is by Daniel Ezralow and direction by Lorenzo Mariani, who already has a few operas to his name. The starring role will be filled by Rosalia Misseri, a young Sicilian who performed in last seasons big musical Notre Dame de Paris by Riccardo Cocciante. The two other main characters, Cavaradossi and Scarpia, will be played respectively by Graziano Galatone and Vittorio Matteucci, also from that show. Paolo Di Nicola
