Tradicionarius
14 Jan-18 March 2005. This extensive series of concerts and performances is a celebration of traditional Catalan music and folk traditions, lasting from February until mid-March. Catalan folk styles and ways of making music vary considerably throughout the region. Since it started back in 1985, the Tradicionarius festival has featured some of the finest Catalan musicians and performers showcasing this wide variety. The festival aims to allow people to enjoy traditional music and dance while adapting it to modern times. With events taking place on the streets, in squares, bars and cafes it manages to excite and entertain audiences as well as provide an outlet for the wealth of local talent and guest performers from further a field. Well-established artists are on hand to enthral and a wide selection of new talent will have the opportunity to perform in public. In addition to the concerts other activities including exhibitions, fiestas and castellers, a traditional form of Catalan show, will be running on the side.
