Una dolce vita? Dal Liberty al design italiano: 1900-1940
16 Oct-17 Jan. This exhibition, organised in collaboration with the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, examines the decorative arts in Italy from the turn of the 20th century until 1940.
The exhibition places a particular focus on the work of cabinet makers, potters and master glaziers whose artistry and craftsmanship was often united with leading artists of the day to create a modern "Italian style".
The more than 100 works on display reflect the range and rapid change in Italian art movements from that era, including Liberty, Novecento, Futurism, Metaphysical art, and Magic Realism.
