Vedutisti Tedeschi a Roma tra il XVIII e il XIX secolo

A selection of about 80 landscapes by German artists from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The paintings depict Roman ruins and monuments as well as country scenes from surrounding towns and villages such as Nemi, Tivoli and Lake Albano.

Most of the painters in the exhibition were connected to Angelika Kauffmann, an influential and much-respected 18th-century neoclassical painter who regularly entertained artists and intellectuals at her home on Via Sistina, where she lived for the last 25 years of life.

The works come from the extensive collection of prints and drawings at the Museo di Roma and concludes the Luoghi Comuni series which over the past two years has featured Rome landscapes by French and British artists in the 18th and 19th centuries.
